LPHYS'19. Practicalities:
LPHYS'19 event place, the Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO) is located in Gyeongju Bomun Tourist Complex (Address: 507 Bomun-ro Gyeongju-si, Tel. +82-54-702-1000).
Gyeongju can be reached by train from Incheon International Airport (ICN) via Seoul. Please see the Wiki Voyage site for more information. If you arrive at Incheon, we would suggest you take the following step:
- At ICN, take the Airport Express train (AREX) to Seoul (Seoul Station). AREX is the non-stop express train connecting ICN to Seoul. The duration of travel is about 1 hour, and the cost is about 9 USD.
- At Seoul Station, take Korea Train eXpress (KTX) train to “Sin-Gyeongju” station or “Singyeongju”. The KTX line runs every hour or every 30 min depending on the time of the day. The economy class ticket costs about 45 USD, and the first class ticket costs about 70 USD. The travel time is roughly 2 hours. You may purchase the ticket at Seoul Station (ticket counter or vending machine) or at KTX online. You may also use the KorailTalk app (iPhone or Android) for purchasing your KTX ticket.
- At Sin-Gyeongju station, take a taxi to any hotel. (~45 min; ~30 USD). Most taxis will accept credit card payment. You may also take bus No. 700 to get to HICO.
- During the weekend, KTX may be crowded, so we suggest that you purchase your return KTX ticket while you are at Singyeongju station, or via KTX online, or using the KorailTalk app.
Alternatively, you may take a limousine bus to Gyeongju from ICN. These limousine buses have wide seats with the 2-1 seat configuration. The bus stop and the ticket counter information at the airport is here:
- Purchase a limousine bus ticket to Gyeongju. The timetable and the cost can be found here by searching the location "Gyeongju".
- The bus makes a 15 min rest-stop on the highway, then stops at Gyeongju before heading to the final destination Pohang.
- The travel time to Gyeongju is about 4 hours, and it costs about 40 USD.
- Once you are at Gyeongju bus station, take a taxi as described above.
