Time Zone

São Carlos is in the Brasília Time Zone (BRT), which is UTC -3 hours. Please plan your travel and communication accordingly.

Registration Desk

The registration desk will be open at the following times:

  • July 2: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • July 3-5: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • July 8-9: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Registration and Security Information

Please remember to bring your Registration Card, either printed or on your smartphone, to the registration desk. The Registration Card can be downloaded from your Participant Personal Page. After registering, you will receive your badge. Please note that there will be IFSC campus security checkpoints which you cannot pass if you do not wear your badge at all times.

WiFi Access

Conference attendees can enjoy high-speed internet access throughout the venue using Eduroam. If you are affiliated with an institution that supports Eduroam, simply use your institutional credentials to log in. For those unfamiliar with Eduroam, it is a secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. If you encounter any issues, assistance will be available at the registration desk.

Electric Plug Adapters

Brazil uses a unique type of electrical outlet that may differ from those in other countries. The standard voltage is 127/220 V and the frequency is 60 Hz. The plug types used are Type N (three round pins) and Type C (two round pins). It is advisable to bring a universal adapter to ensure your devices can be charged without issue.

Currency

The official currency in Brazil is the Brazilian Real (BRL). It is recommended to exchange some currency before arriving or use ATMs available at the airport and throughout the city. Major credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s always good to have some cash on hand for smaller purchases and transportation.

Local SIM Cards and Mobile Services

Local SIM cards can be purchased at the airport or various mobile service stores in São Carlos. Recommended providers include Claro, Vivo, and TIM.
